5 Tips To Maintain Healthy Skin in the Springtime

Warm weather means it’s time to get outside and enjoy the gorgeous springtime season! But before you revel in the outdoors, you must change up your skin-care routine. Find out five tips to maintain healthy skin during the springtime!

Switch to a Lighter Moisturizer

Everyone has different skin types. Picking the right moisturizer is an important thing to consider when choosing skin-care products. In the winter, the skin is more prone to drying up and needs supplemental moisture to look its best. Now that the temperatures are rising and there’s more moisture in the air, your skin won’t require heavy or thick creams.

Instead, switch to a light moisturizer that will maintain healthy skin without providing excessive moisture. Too much can cause the skin to feel and appear greasy. You’ll feel more comfortable in your skin when you wear a lightweight moisturizer during the springtime.

Exfoliate Once a Week

Exfoliating in the winter is great because it removes the flaky parts of the skin. Just because you don’t see those same effects in the spring doesn’t mean that exfoliation isn’t beneficial.

Your skin will benefit even more from springtime exfoliation because of the excessive levels of humidity. Whether you use a chemical peel or a physical exfoliation scrub, find an option that’s perfect for your skin type.

Check Your Makeup Products and Brushes

Old makeup products and unwashed brushes could be the culprit of an acne flare-up. So conduct a makeup spring cleaning!

Go through old and expired makeup. Replace those items with an alternative product or a fresh one of your favorite. Then, take your brushes and clean them with gentle soap and cold water. Now, your makeup products are clean and ready to go on your skin!

Incorporate Sunscreen Into Your Daily Routine

You should always wear sunscreen. UV rays are harmful no matter the time of the year. However, when the temperatures rise, it’s even more important to wear sunscreen each day.

Nowadays, many foundations include SPF. You should wear a minimum of 30 SPF each day. If you plan to spend a long time outdoors, 50 or 60 SPF is ideal for safeguarding your skin.

Sunscreen and Retinol

Retinol is a helpful skin-care product that exfoliates the skin and enhances the production of collagen to reduce wrinkles and create glowing skin. But it can also make your skin more sensitive to UV rays.

If you use this type of product, be sure to apply it only at night. Then, before going out for the day, apply sunscreen. It will increase the effectiveness of the retinol and further protect the skin from harmful UV rays.

Consume Plenty of Water

A hydrated body produces hydrated and healthy skin! If your skin feels like it’s dry, flaky, and lacking a natural glow, the root of the problem may be that you’re not drinking enough water.

There are some negative symptoms of not drinking enough water. You may feel tired or develop a headache. So when you consume at least six to eight ounces of water each day, you’ll have a healthier digestive system and more energy! Not to mention, it will have a positive effect on the quality of your skin.
